This impressive high-altitude trek crosses the heart of the Cordillera Blanca, connecting the spectacular Llanganuco Valley with the remote Broggi area. The route offers a true alpine wilderness experience, passing through glacial landscapes, high mountain passes, turquoise lagoons, and breathtaking viewpoints of some of the most iconic peaks of the range.

The trek begins in the famous Llanganuco Valley, surrounded by the majestic peaks of Huascarán, Huandoy, and Chopicalqui. The trail gradually ascends through high Andean terrain toward the Broggi Pass, reaching elevations of around 4,900–5,000 meters, before descending through pristine mountain landscapes.

Tour Details

Cebollapampa at 3,900 m.a.s.l. – Broggi Pass at 4,980 m.a.s.l. – Colcabamba at 3,500 m.a.s.l. – Vaquería.

We leave Cebollapampa along the trail leading toward Laguna 69. We then head east, gradually ascending across a moraine toward our first 5,000-meter pass.

Behind us, we can see the Broggi Lakes and the remnants of one of the glaciers that was among the first in the region to disappear. We reach Chacraraju Pass at 4,980 m.a.s.l., dominated by the impressive Chacraraju peak and its rocky eastern ridge, first climbed by Lionel Terray.

We make a careful descent through rocky terrain and grassland toward the Ranincuray Lakes. We then continue down the valley to the village of Huaripampa at 3,700 m.a.s.l., followed by Colcabamba. From Vaquería, we take private transportation back to Huaraz.
