Tour Details
We begin in the main square of Carhuaz and head toward the neighborhood of Tambo. We then descend to Acopampa before crossing Hornuyoc Bridge.
From here, we begin a sustained ascent toward the village of Purhuay. We are now in the Cordillera Negra, an excellent viewpoint overlooking the Cordillera Blanca and its spectacular snow-capped peaks, including Huascarán, Copa, and Hualcán.
After a few rest stops, we reach Purhuay, a welcoming agricultural village and the highest point of our route. We then descend to Marcará, where we visit the main square and its church.
We continue our journey along an ancient trail running parallel to the paved road. This pre-Hispanic route was also used by the Incas. In Ucucha, we stop to taste Carhuacino beer at the brewery where it is produced.
We then continue along the same trail toward Acopampa, where we have the opportunity to taste traditional Chicha de Jora. Finally, we return to Carhuaz, where our cycling tour comes to an end.
